Caregiving – a new documentary and national engagement campaign on the state and stakes of providing care in America.
After being hired at a care community in Seattle, WA, Jordan quickly realized that he had both a passion and a gift for working with people with dementia. Several years later, now working as a med tech in a combined assisted living and memory care community Jordan meets Gil, who came to the community after the death of his partner and the realization that he needed some care himself. Jordan – a gay millennial – finds a calling and Gil finds care, but they both find something they weren’t expecting: acceptance, a chosen family, and the freedom to be themselves.
An estimated 53 million to 105.6 million U.S. adults provide unpaid caregiving for family or friends. Every one of them has a story filled with sacrifice, love, and the pursuit of dignity in care. Stream Caregiving now on WellBeings.org, the PBS App and PBS.org.
