Camp HLC is a three-day, overnight retreat for children and young adults, ages 6-21, who have or have had a loved one battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In this short film, the children enter a “confession booth” and speak the truth of their experience directly to the camera. Each child has their own story, but they are stronger together, and HLC (which stands for Hope Loves Company) is where this community can thrive and care for each other.
An estimated 53 million to 105.6 million U.S. adults provide unpaid caregiving for family or friends. Every one of them has a story filled with sacrifice, love, and the pursuit of dignity in care. Stream now on WellBeings.org, the PBS App and PBS.org.
