International Day of Older Persons
October 7, 2027 All day
Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1990, International Day of Older Persons recognizes the contributions older adults make to their families, communities, and economies, while also highlighting the challenges they face, including social isolation, elder abuse, and unequal access to health care. Each year, the observance carries a theme set by the UN, often tied to aging populations, caregiving, or the rights of older people. Globally, the number of people over 65 is growing faster than any other age group, which the UN uses this day to underscore as a public health and social policy priority. For Well Beings, it’s a natural tie-in to caregiving content and any programming that touches on aging in place, elder fraud, or long-term care.
