My beautiful wife Lori is stricken with Primary Progressive Aphasia like Bruce Willis. She is physically able but has difficulty with language and it’s very frustrating to communicate. My job is to keep her in a good place and simple tasks become difficult. The last three years of therapy and treatment have used mental energy and effort to maintain a quality of life. I have a fear of caretaking as the real job has yet to begin.
I want her to stay home as long as possible in our home of forty years. The looming financial, mental pressure and physical suffering is daunting. I have to discard resentment and keep getting good folks around me to make each day better since today is Lori’s best day. She loves puzzles, hula and Hawaiian music.
