BrainStorm Screening in West Newton, Mass.

ABOUT THE FILM
BrainStorm follows six compelling people living with bipolar on their journeys from devastation to recovery. The film connects their experiences with the latest bipolar brain science to shed light on potential causes and successful treatments. The film closes with a message of hope, showing that it is possible to thrive while living on the bipolar spectrum.

BONNIE WALTCH
Bonnie Waltch is the director, producer, and writer of BrainStorm, a feature-length documentary film about the bipolar spectrum. She is the award-winning senior producer and writer of the one-hour PBS and international broadcast documentary, Earth Emergency and series of five short films, Climate Emergency: Feedback Loops, narrated by Richard Gere. She has worked on a variety of television science series for PBS and the Discovery Channel, and has produced, directed, and written short films for museums around the U.S.

SARA SCHLEY
Sara Schley, Co-Producer, Co-Writer of the film and Author of the memoir BrainStorm, is a business consultant, social change entrepreneur, speaker, and author. Sara lives with Bipolar II, a secret she kept for more than four decades. Her memoir BrainStorm: from Brokent to Blessed on the Bipolar Spectrum is the inspiration for the film. Sara serves on the board of the International Society for Bipolar Disorder, the advisory network for CREST.BD, and FITT.BD and as an Expert by Experience for the Bipolar Action Network.

HOLLY A. SWARTZ M.D.
Holly A. Swartz, M.D. is professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Director of the Center for Advanced Psychotherapy at Western Psychiatric Hospital. With Dr. Trisha Suppes, she is co-editor of Bipolar II Disorder: Recognition, Understanding, and Treatment from APA Publishing. Dr Swartz is Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Psychotherapy and President of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders.
