Remote Chance: Health Care in Rural America, a digital-first series of short films by award-winning filmmaker Elizabeth Arledge; made possible by the PATH Foundation
Free Clinic Addresses Urgent Needs in Rural America
Through personal accounts and interviews with patients and volunteers at a free clinic in Tennessee, this film sheds light on critical healthcare challenges facing rural Americans. It tells the stories of people traveling long distances and literally sleeping overnight in their cars to visit Remote Area Medical, a pop-up clinic that offers quality dental, vision, and general medical care at no cost. And it examines the significant disparities in healthcare access for rural residents, and reveals the urgent need to bridge the gap.
