SUMMARY:National LGBTQ Health Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:The National Coalition for LGBTQ Health announces that the theme for this year’s National LGBTQ Health Awareness Week\, being held March 16 – 20\, 2026\, is “Organize to OUTlast.” The theme calls on the LGBTQ community and those who provide healthcare for LGBTQ communities to organize for LGBTQ health against regressive forces in policy and culture. The Coalition created the National LGBTQ Health Awareness Week 24 years ago to raise awareness about timely and relevant issues impacting LGBTQ healthcare. \n\n\n\nWe urge healthcare professionals\, advocates\, and community leaders to collaborate on building strategies\, skills\, resources\, and support structures that continue to foster health equity amid divestment and fragmentation of the broader healthcare system. By organizing within and across communities to protect advances in LGBTQ health\, we will outlast the attempts to erase our progress. Organize to OUTlast assures us that together\, the LGBTQ community and LGBTQ health services will survive\, thrive\, and persevere through these challenging times and beyond.

SUMMARY:International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade
DESCRIPTION:The International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade is a time for reflection. But it is also a time for education. Despite myths to the contrary\, enslaved Africans enriched the Americas not just through their labour but also through a transfer of vital skills and knowledge. In addition\, rather than accepting their fate\, they engaged in powerful acts of resistance. The United Nations works to highlight such stories through its Outreach Programme on the Transatlantic Slave Trade and Slavery\, which is managed by the Department of Global Communications\, and the Routes of Enslaved Peoples Project\, which is run by the United Nations Educational\, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

SUMMARY:National Melanoma/Skin Cancer Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:With over 5 million cases diagnosed in the United States each year\, skin cancer is America’s most common cancer. Fortunately\, skin cancer is also one of the most preventable cancers. By sharing facts about the dangers of unprotected sun exposure and encouraging people to check their skin for warning signs\, we can and will save lives. \n\n\n\nWe can’t do this work alone. \n\n\n\nSkin Cancer Awareness Month is a time for us to speak up about the dangers of skin cancer\, share the facts about sun protection and early detection to help save lives. This year\, we are spreading awareness around the fact that #SkinCancerIsPersonal and affects people in many ways\, both physically and emotionally. We’re also sharing that #SkinCancerIsSerious and IS a big deal! Thank you for helping to amplify these important messages.
