DESCRIPTION:Highlights the importance of healthy eating\, physical activity\, and community support in preventing and managing childhood obesity. \n\n\n\nChildhood obesity is a complex disease with many contributing factors\, including genes\, eating patterns\, physical activity levels\, and sleep routines. Compared to children with healthy weight\, children with obesity are at a higher risk for asthma\, sleep apnea\, bone and joint problems\, type 2 diabetes\, and other health issues. While there is no one solution\, there are many ways parents and caregivers can help children have a healthy weight and set up lifelong healthy habits.

SUMMARY:Filipino American History Month
DESCRIPTION:Filipino Americans are the second-largest Asian American group in the nation and the third-largest ethnic group in California\, after Latinas/os and African Americans. The celebration of Filipino American History Month in October commemorates the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States\, which occurred on October 18\, 1587\, when “Luzones Indios” came ashore from the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Esperanza and landed at what is now Morro Bay\, California. In 2009\, U.S. \n\n\n\nCongress recognized October as Filipino American History Month in the United States. Various states\, counties\, and cities in the U.S. have established proclamations and resolutions declaring observance of Filipino American History Month. The late Dr. Fred Cordova\, along with his wife\, FANHS Founder Dr. Dorothy Laigo Cordova\, first introduced October as Filipino American History Month in 1992 with a resolution from the FANHS National Board of Trustees. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n WellBeings – Filipino American History & Culture Quiz\n \n\n\n \n \n WELLBEINGS INTERACTIVE\n Filipino American History & Culture Quiz\n Test your knowledge on historical milestones\, labor movements\, cultural pioneers\, and notable figures in American history. \n \n\n \n \n Loading question…\n \n \n \n \n \n Next Question →\n \n\n \n Quiz Complete\n \n \n YOUR SCORE\n 0/10\n \n \n\n COPY AND SHARE YOUR SCORE\n \n \n\n \n Educational & Historical Sources: Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS)\, Library of Congress\, and Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center.

SUMMARY:National Diabetes Month
DESCRIPTION:November is National Diabetes Month\, a time when communities across the country seek to bring attention to diabetes. This year’s focus is on taking action to prevent diabetes health problems. \n\n\n\nDiabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose\, also called blood sugar\, is too high. It affects about 38 million Americans\, including adults and youth. Diabetes can damage the eyes\, kidneys\, nerves\, and heart\, and it is linked to some types of cancer. \n\n\n\nBut there’s also good news: Taking charge of your health may help you prevent diabetes health problems.
